All Hallows' Eve is celebrated in numerous countries, but in America, we love us some Halloween!

The observance was intended to remember the dead, including saints (hallows) and all our departed. Historic traditions included festivals and vigils but It wasn't until the 19th century that Scottish and Irish immigrants brought Halloween to North America - before that, Puritans frowned upon the day, and oddly, Christmas too.

Today, Halloween is a multi-cultural event with costume parties, pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, and haunted houses — gone are the vigils. Did you know, adults in the US spent a record-breaking $10.1 billion on Halloween in 2021 ($3.3 billion spent on decorations) and more than 55% of American households without children plan to celebrate Halloween?

Move over Santa, Halloween is quickly becoming America's favorite holiday and at Elmer's Flag & Banner, we have a showroom filled with decorations to adorn your house for the candy-begging hobgoblins. Choose from garden flags, house banners and windsocks in a variety of themes including jack-o'lanterns, black cats, Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) sugar skulls and fall scenes. Plus, shop our in-stock décor for Thanksgiving and Christmas while you're here.

Our premium house banners and garden flags are fade and mildew resistant to help preserve the color and lifespan of your banner. They're crafted from weather-proof nylon, polyester, and rayon to enhance drape and movement.

Now that masks are fun again, bring out your spooky spirit and enjoy the evening whether you are out with your costumed little ones, staying home and answering the door to the neighborhood demons, or at a party!
